Well, here’s something I bet you never imagined would happen! Leonardo DiCaprio met with President-elect Trump and his daughter, Ivanka. The topic of discussion? How green jobs can boost economy.
The 42-year-old DiCaprio is famed not only for his acting work, but his work to curtail climate change. During the recent presidential campaign he was also famed as being a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton. Huh.
The meeting between DiCaprio, Ivanka, and her President-to-be father, was a bit of sub-rosa situation, with DiCaprio entering through some back entrance, and the meeting only being announced after it was over. Weird? Yeah, we think so.
During this meeting it seems that Leonardo presented his ideas about how focusing on renewable, clean energy could create millions of jobs. According to DiCaprio, “We presented the President-elect and his advisers with a framework – which LDF [Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation] developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism – that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure. Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation.”
Okay, we like the idea of good jobs, and more of them, to be sure. Not so big on the idea of former Hillary supporter “sneaking” into Trump Tower to have a tête–à–tête with our next president.
