Even though millions of conservatives are firmly behind presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, the GOP establishment has been trying to stop him for months. That’s why it came as a big surprise when the chairmen of nine major House committees came together to endorse Trump this week.
According to Conservative Tribune, the chairmen and their committees are: Steve Chabot, Ohio (Small Business), Michael Conaway, Texas (Agriculture), Jeb Hensarling, Texas (Financial Services), Candice Miller, Michigan (House Administration), Jeff Miller, Florida (Veterans’ Affairs), Tom Price, Georgia (Budget), Pete Sessions, Texas (Rules), Bill Shuster, Pennsylvania (Transportation and Infrastructure), and Lamar Smith, Texas (Science, Space and Technology).
This conservative bigwigs released the following joint statement in support of The Donald:
“We stand on the precipice of one of the most important elections of our lifetime. This great nation cannot endure eight more years of Democrat-control of the White House. It cannot afford to put Democrats in charge of Congress.
It is paramount that we coalesce around the Republican nominee, Mr. Donald J. Trump, and maintain control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Any other outcome is a danger to economic growth, puts our national security in peril, enshrines ObamaCare as the law of the land, entraps Americans in a cycle of poverty and dependence, and undermines our constitutional republic.
There is a path to winning in November, and it comes through unity. To solidify this partnership, we endorse Mr. Trump as the Republican nominee for president and call upon all Americans to support him.”
Trump was quick to thank the men for their support.
“It is tremendous to be working with these leaders and their colleagues on winning solutions that will really move us forward,” Trump responded. “A strong House Republican Majority is imperative to fixing the problems facing America and making our country better and stronger than ever before.”
We’re glad to see the GOP establishment finally supporting Trump. Hopefully, we can put all this nonsense behind us and refocus on making sure Hillary Clinton does not make it to the White House.
