Last week week, Bashar al-Assad’s regime launched a chemical attack on it’s own nation that left 83 people dead and over 350 injured. Incredibly disturbed by this, President Donald Trump responded by launching 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase.
The president was praised by leaders all over the world for what he did, and if Barack Obama was still in office, he likely would have been too busy taking credit for the strike himself to give credit to the hardworking men and women of the U.S. military who made it possible. Trump, however, wasn’t about to let their efforts go unnoticed.
Daily Mail reported that Trump called Cmdr. Russell Caldwell and Cmdr. Andria Slough of the USS Porter and USS Ross for their quick response and professionalism surrounding the Syria strike. Trump is pictured below making the calls as National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster looks on.
Here was Slough’s reaction when she realized the president of the United States had just called her.
Here’s how Caldwell reacted:
The Navy stated that both vessels are conducting routine patrols in the US 6th Fleet area of operations in support of American national security interests in Europe.
