Once one of the most prosperous cities in the U.S., Detroit is now an absolute basket case. It is an example of what happens when a place falls under long-term liberal rule.
Once known as ‘the Paris of the Midwest,’ Detroit now has almost no economy and an almost third world level of corruption with its leaders and city government. Probably the worst of all its problems is the mortality of the city’s children.
As reported in the article ‘Progressivism Kills’ from the National Review:
The most horrific story may be that of the death of its children. Detroit has the highest child-mortality rate of any American city, exceeding that of many parts of what we used to call the Third World. … The main cause of premature death among the children of Detroit is premature birth — the second is murder.
Check out these stunning photos, showing what liberalism has done to Detroit. It’s quite sad:
The decrepit state of Detroit include:
* A ruined school system
* Lack of doctors if you get sick
* Out-of-wedlock births running around 80%
* Few chain grocery stores
But the people of Detroit keep electing Democratic mayors. When was the last Republican mayor of Detroit? During the Eisenhower administration! It is crazy to keep doing the same thing and magically expecting different results.
The end result of decades of unmitigated left-wing rule have resulted in the mess that is Detroit. Contrary to what many people believe, the decay is not the outcome of the automotive industry. The automotive industry is thriving in the United States!
In reality, it’s politics. Per the National Review:The model of Detroit politics is startlingly familiar in its fundamentals, distinguished only by its degree of advancement: Advance the interests of public-sector unions and politically connected business cronies, expand the relative size of the public sector remorselessly — and when opposed, cry “Racism!”
Photos of Detroit in its golden era compared with the current day provide a horrifying contrast. Detroit serves as a dire warning to the rest of the nation of what can happen when progressive policies and leadership goes unchallenged.
