As is commonly known, Michelle Obama wrote her Bachelor of Arts thesis while at Princeton on a race-related topic. It should come as no surprise to anyone who observed her eight years as First Lady that she would chose as her thesis topic ‘Blackness,’ considering her well-documented race obsession. In fact, she titled her paper ‘Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.’
In a Facebook post political commentator, author, and director Dinesh D’Souza lambastes Ms. Obama and affirmative action. D’Souza includes a comment from the late Christopher Hitchens that Ms. Obama’s Princeton thesis “wasn’t written in any known language.” Ouch.
The first thing we notice is Michelle’s tortured use of English grammar. She often seems a bit shy about the use of commas to break up a sentence into more manageable thoughts. We realize she was a Sociology student and not an English major, but still…
In one section Michelle claims that it was at Princeton that she became acutely aware of her ‘blackness,’ and that she ended up living on the ‘periphery of society.’
Whoa! Michelle had been accepted into and was attending an elite, Ivy League school. A place of learning that precious few ever have the opportunity to attend, yet she was living on society’s periphery? What, like unfortunate homeless people?
I guess she was living so high she wasn’t even aware of her privilege!
Michelle also goes on about ‘conservative values.’ Such values actually assist people to succeed. Michelle sort of begrudgingly concedes that she has picked up some of those values, like her white peers, such as striving for more education and financial success.
Michelle then dives into some serious race-baiting, which of course the paper was building up to.
The ideas that Michelle espoused in her thesis go a long way toward understanding why the Obama presidency was so race-obsessed.
In her grand conclusion, Michelle comes up with the amazing hypothesis that spending more time around a group of people will lead one to be more familiar with that group. Certainly, she must have been the first person in history to deduce that!
