Bill Maher has made millions with his usually profane and vulgar political rants on his show, Real Time with Bill Maher.
But this time he may have gone too far.
Speaking to his guest, writer Gabriel Sherman, Maher pondered the role Ivanka has in the White House.
According to the Daily Mail, He said: ‘What do you make of Ivanka and her efforts to sort of humanize her father? We see all this misogyny at Fox News, we see it in Donald Trump himself. A lot of us thought, Ivanka is gonna be our saving grace.’
The political commentator then took it a step further and mimicked Ivanka performing a sex act on her father.
‘When he’s about to nuke Finland or something, she’s gonna walk into the bedroom and—”Daddy, Daddy…’Don’t do it, Daddy,”‘ said Maher.
The backlash against Maher was harsh and swift.
Even the liberal Daily Beast objected to Maher’s remark:
Ivanka Trump is a problematic, puzzling figure, but if liberals are going to castigate Donald Trump for his boorish, sexist behavior, they shouldn’t behave in a similar fashion.
However, it is doubtful is Maher, who has a history of vulgar remarks, will be adversely affected by this criticism. He, like many of his peers in pedantic, self-righteous, liberal comedy, likely thinks that the path to continued fame and fortune is lined with outrageous, sickening remarks and the publicity-generating headlines those remarks engender.
But it just reveals him to be bankrupt…
