During the presidential primaries, Florida Senator Marco Rubio was an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. That’s why a liberal reporter thought he might have a shot at getting Rubio to call for Trump’s impeachment this week.
It didn’t take long for the reporter to learn he’d made a HUGE mistake.
Catching up with Rubio at Ronald Reagan International Airport in Washington D.C., a TMZ reporter asked him about the many Hollywood celebrities who are calling for Trump’s impeachment. Rubio didn’t hold back with his response.
“We’ve got to just take care of the country. We’ll see how it all plays out,” Rubio said, going on to advise to celebrity to stop with their impeachment demands.
“We’re pretty divided right now, you know, as a country,” he said, according to Allen B. West. “I think it’s alright to disagree on things. We gotta figure out things we can work together on. In the end, I’m not going anywhere, the other people aren’t going anywhere — we’re gonna be in America together.”
“We might as well make it work,” he continued. “And on the things we disagree on, we can have a debate about them. But on things we can kind of make progress on, we should try. That’s what I’m gonna try to do. I hope it works.”
Had the reporter done his homework, he would have known that Rubio ended up voting for Trump in the election despite his previous criticisms of him. When he was asked why he voted for Trump, the Florida Senator said, “I signed a pledge, put my name on it, and said I would support the Republican nominee, and that’s what I intend to do.”
We’re glad to see that Rubio refused to hop on the “impeach Trump” bandwagon. SHARE this story if you do NOT want Trump to be impeached!
