Johns Hopkins Psychiatrist Exposes Truth About Transgenders

Belief in the obvious – that there are two human genders, and that they cannot be changed on a whim – has now become, in the view of progressives, bigotry.

An entire new set of gender-identity terms have cropped up, seemingly out of the blue, in recent years.

“Transgender,” “gender-binary,” “agender,” “bigender” are but a few of the words that didn’t exist a generation ago that have now been added to our vocabulary. In fact, the whole reality of biological human gender, determined at birth, is being challenged as wrong.

An esteemed expert on the topic, Dr. Paul McHugh, recently provided his insights, according to a CNS News report.

Dr. McHugh is the Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University and former Johns Hopkins Hospital psychiatrist-in-chief, so his credentials are impeccable. After studying transgendered people for four decades, Dr. McHugh has come to the conclusion: “transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men.”

The truth, Dr. McHugh asserts in an article for The Witherspoon Institute, is the obvious one. Transgendered people, McHugh explains, simply “become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’”

At its heart, the struggle some people have with their gender identification is based on psychological, not biological, issues.

McHugh argues that the modern Leftist concept that “one’s sex is fluid and a matter of choice” is quite harmful to people, especially the young, who struggle with these issues.

The Obama administration, unsurprisingly, was of a mind with those who consider human gender to be a fluid concept, not based on DNA and biology. During her tenure in the White House administration of Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett stated that “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.”

This concept is extremely damaging to families and people who are dealing with gender issues. It also makes it less likely that therapists will choose to help afflicted individuals “work out their conflicts and correct their assumptions.” Instead, McHugh points out, “they and their families find only ‘gender counselors’ who encourage them in their sexual misassumptions.”

The idea that gender and sex are not biological and are simply a personal choice is yet another ‘gift’ of progressives to western civilization. Yet one more damaging concept that serves as an indicator of the downward slide of our society, courtesy of the Left.
