During Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful presidential campaign, her charity the Clinton Foundation was exposed as a corrupt and criminal enterprise. Now, it appears that the bad publicity has taken a massive toll on the foundation…
The Daily Caller reported that the Clinton Foundation just laid off 22 staffers on the Clinton Global Initiative as they continue to try and deal with the negative publicity they have received. The Clinton Foundation revealed the lay offs in a filing with the New York Department of Labor Thursday, saying that they will go into effect on April 15 and citing the discontinuation of the Clinton Global Initiative.
This is all part of a plan that was put into motion right before the election to combat a storm of criticism regarding pay-to-play allegations during Clinton’s time as secretary of state.
The firings were reportedly announced internally back in September, as it had become clear the future of the initiative was in doubt. The decision reportedly set off a dispute within Clinton Foundation circles regarding the best way to handle the fallout from the allegations against the charity. Some thought the layoffs were handled “insensitively” while others were disturbed by the optics of allowing anyone with the Clinton Global Initiative to stay on.
