Now that the long and brutal campaign to the presidency is past, President-Elect Donald Trump’s top aides are turning their attention to the early days of the new administration.
Dr. Ben Carson spoke with Politico about the plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as “Obamacare,” and replace it with something better.
“I think the replacement obviously must come first and it must be something that is very appealing and easy to understand. Then, and only then, would you dismantle what’s in place,” Carson prudently stated.
There has been much discussion about prosecuting Hillary Clinton for misconduct relating to the Clinton Foundation and her private email server she set up and used during her time as Secretary of State. Carson explained that this would not be a high priority for the new administration.
“That certainly should not be the first thing on one’s list. The concept of liberty and justice for all is important. Having standards that apply to everybody in the society obviously is an important thing,” he explained.
The doctor asserted that the public perception of Trump was not necessarily the reality. “I think actually a lot of the people who have tried to demonize him will be quite shocked when they see who [Trump] really is,” Carson asserted, adding, “He’ll be a very easy person to work with as long as you’re reasonable, as long as you’re fair.”
