The country music world went into mourning this week after the family of legendary singer Sonny James revealed he passed away on Monday at the age of 87.
James emerged in the country music scene in the late 1950s, and he quickly took it by storm. The singer had sixteen consecutive number one hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s, and he is still remembered for his beautiful ballad “Young Love.”
According to IJ Review, James passed away on Monday in Nashville at a hospice care facility.
Country music icons have already begun speaking out to honor James.
“Sonny James was one of country music’s greatest,” Dolly Parton said. “He was a true gentleman and made some of the greatest country music records of all times, certainly some of my favorites.”
This week, please keep James’ widow Doris in your thoughts and prayers. They had been married since 1957.
God bless you, Sonny James!
