For some reason, Hollywood actors think it’s part of their job to constantly speak out to promote their shamelessly liberal views. Sick and tired of seeing this, country music star Carrie Underwood knew she had to say something.
Though she is open about being a conservative, Carrie recently refused to tell a reporter who she will be backing in the 2016 race, saying that she loses “all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.”
“There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate,” Carrie said, according to Q Political. “It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions. I think everybody needs to go check out what the candidates are all about and make an informed decision on their own.
“I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to,” she continued. “Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it’s from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape.”
This isn’t the first time the country singer has refused to talk about politics. When she was asked at a 2011 Kennedy Center event about whether or not Obama has met her expectations, she gracefully declined to answer.
“Now you’re getting into like politicky kind of stuff. I’m here for the service aspect and to honor great people and the service that they’ve done and I kind of stay out of the rest of it,” Carrie said.
We’ll just add this to the long list of reasons that we LOVE Carrie Underwood!
