Millions of Donald Trump supporters are furious today after the president-elect suggested that he will not follow through with his frequent promise to appoint a special prosecutor to go after Hillary Clinton.
Daily Mail reported that Trump was asked about his campaign promise during an interview on Friday.
“It’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought, because I want to solve health care, jobs, border control, tax reform,” Trump told the Wall Street Journal.
The fact that Trump dodged the question has led his supporters to fear that he is moving away from the pledge that he first made back in August. During a rally in Akron, Ohio, Trump said that neither the FBI nor the Justice Department could be trusted because they “whitewashed” Clinton’s email crimes.
In an interview with 60 Minutes that is set to air on Sunday, Trump praised the Clintons as he revealed that both Hillary and Bill called him after his win.
“So, Hillary called, and it was a lovely call, and it was a tough call for her, I mean, I can imagine. Tougher for her than it would have been for me. I mean, for me, it would have been very, very difficult,” Trump said. “She couldn’t have been nicer. She just said, ‘Congratulations, Donald, well done.’And I said, ‘I want to thank you very much; you were a great competitor.’ She is very strong and very smart.”
Trump added that Bill “couldn’t have been more gracious. He said it was an amazing run. One of the most amazing he’s ever seen. He was very, very, really, very nice.”
