Gerri Willis is known as one of the most beloved personalities in the Fox News family. That’s why the entire Fox News family started sending her prayers last May when she announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
This week, Willis made her triumphant return to Fox after defeating cancer, and what she did was incredibly brave. While appearing on Kennedy, Willis tossed off her wig as she described what her cancer battle was really like.
“It’s been a real journey… I had a mastectomy of my right breast… I then went into chemo-therapy, eight treatments over four months. The “red devil,” which is the really caustic chemotherapy, then Taxol, then after that I had breast reconstruction and then finally five weeks of daily treatments,” Willis said.
She went on to talk about what it was like to lose her hair.
“That was the second chemotherapy and it fell out after that,” Willis said. “A little note to self if this ever happens to you, just shave your head to begin with because pulling your hair out in lumps is a real drag…. My priority is getting better, who cares about my hair.”
She then encouraged everyone to get mammograms if they have any concerns about breast cancer.
“If you are worried about this … I know a lot of people who stay away from the mammogram for that reason alone… you have to take care of yourself,” Willis said.
Please keep Willis in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to recover from her cancer battle!
